LINCOLN, Nebraska. – At least two people were rescued from a burning house by an off duty Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputy.
” As I was driving down on 9th Street here I can see smoke,” says deputy Barry Barnett. “As I got closer to D Street I could smell smoke.”
Barnett jumped right in before firefighters even arrived.
“So I grabbed my fire extinguisher,” Barnett says. ” Another individual come over and went inside and we were able to get everyone out, but we could hear people upstairs.”
According to fire officials, two adults were rushed to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
