New security measures taken by Downtown bars

GRAND ISLAND, Neb.- ” We’re making sure this never happens again,” that’s the word from one downtown bar following a fight at a nearby tavern last week-end.

Malachi Martinez was arrested, accused of entering Infuse Bar with a gun and starting a fight with two brothers.

Now we’re hearing from “The Brick House” which is promising stricter security.

“EVERYONE will be patted down, even if you go outside to smoke, go to a different bar, go to your car, whatever it is .. you will have to go through security every time you try to get back in,” the bar announced on social media.

Police Captain Jin Duering said they have not asked for new security measures after the incident, but they congratulate business owners who have taken new steps to keep customers safe.
