OPS A Sanctuary School District

OMAHA, Neb.- With an ever growing number of Hispanic  students, the Omaha School Board has voted to try and steer clear of any possible deportation cases.

According to a resolution, OPS will not turn over information on a student or family’s immigration status to federal authorities, unless ordered by a court or OK’d by the family.

Latino students now make up nearly 34 percent of the student population at OPS, up from 21 per cent 11 years ago.
